Train the lab technicians in diagnosis of plant bacterial and fungal pathogens by molecular methodologies (PCR)
Proven experience in using QIAxcel Pure excellence PCR (mandatory requirement)
Train the lab technicians in designing primers used in molecular procedures for diagnosis of bacterial and fungal pathogens.
Evaluate the existing protocols of plant biotechnology laboratory used for the detection of bacterial and fungal pathogens especially of perennial crops.
Assist in the development of a detail strategy for the management and eradication of bacterial and fungal disease of perennial crops in Afghanistan.
Suggest and help in the development of a database for plant biotechnology laboratory for the bacterial and fungal diseases data screening.
Assist the lab staff in selecting various necessary test kits, reagents and chemicals for molecular diagnostic procedures.
Guide lab staff in writing a detail work procedure guide for plant biotechnology laboratory in bacterial and fungal diseases diagnosis.
Provide suggestions and recommendations for the control of various bacterial and fungal diseases in perennial crops.
Help in the development of links between lab staff and suppliers of various inputs for various molecular procedures.
Deliverables and timeline
The Plant Biotechnology Laboratory staff is able to diagnose the diseases of bacterial and fungal origins in perennial crops.
The staff is able to make the selection of various inputs (Test kits, reagents and chemicals) and knows the procedures for the procurement of those inputs.
The lab staff is able to provide advice and recommendations for the management and eradication of various diseases of fungal and bacterial origins in perennial crops.
The plant Biotechnology laboratory staff are able to adequately utilize and operate the QIAxcel Pure excellence
The Microbiology is expected to start this assignment in August 2017..
